The crest of the COVID-19 wave has yet to hit.
With US coronavirus infection rates and deaths doubling every 3-4 days, our frontline physicians and nurses bravely continue to see COVID-19 patients in hospitals without sufficient PPE, putting themselves and their families at great risk for infection.
As of March 30th, 2020, 60 doctors have died in Italy from COVID-19 infection. The US already has multitudes of physicians and nurses infected with the virus. Some have died.
The US stockpile of emergency medical supplies is nearly gone, as of April 1st, 2020, according to DHS officials.
Without our frontline physicians and nurses, the health and economic outcomes for us all as a country will be much more devastating.
Please do your part to help mitigate the risk to our frontline physicians and nurses.
Your donation will make a difference in reducing morbidity and mortality during this pandemic. If each OCDS member dentist donated at least 1 box of masks and one box of gloves, that would be over 2000 boxes of both masks and gloves!
Our office in Fountain Valley is the drop-off site. We are here generally 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Thursday. We are centrally located in Orange County; traffic is light and you should be able to get to our office within 25 minutes, +/- 15 minutes.

In California, we are currently seeing a doubling every 3-4 days of the number of COVID-19 cases.
Our frontline physician and nursing colleagues are continuing to see this rising number of COVID-19 infected patients without proper PPE protection out of a moral imperative. The least that we as dentists can do while our practices are idled by this pandemic is to support their bravery by providing some of our unused PPE to them. It will make a difference in reducing morbidity and mortality during this pandemic.

Dear OCDS colleagues,
Today we are starting a PPE (personal protective equipment) donation drive of OCDS member dentists to help mitigate the critical shortage and risk faced by our medical colleagues in hospitals as the COVID19/coronavirus pandemic continues to expand.
There is a critical shortage of PPE in hospitals throughout the country, including here in Southern California. The shortage of PPE has led to physicians and nurses contracting COVID19 here in Southern California hospitals.
As of today, in Italy, 18 physicians have died after contracting COVID-19, and 12% of the total COVID19 cases there are healthcare workers.
We cannot let that happen here.
Please donate today that personal protective equipment (PPE) that you would have used during the dental office shutdown. Please donate:
- Unused face masks
- Unused face shields or reusable goggles
- Packages of disposable gloves,
- Hand sanitizer
The U.S. Surgeon General announced today that "this week it's going to get bad' regarding the COVID19 pandemic in the US.
Please do your part today to stem the damage. Let's pull together, bring hope and help through positive action. Please donate your PPE today. Please drop any donations off at our office. Our Fountain Valley address and phone numbers are listed above.
We will be delivering supplies to the hospital throughout the next few weeks. We are hoping to particularly support Olive View Medical Center in Los Angeles County. Olive View is a safety net hospital and a resident/fellow training center for UCLA. Their frontline doctors and nurses don't have enough PPE, and some have fallen ill. They are in desperate need of donations.
We will extend this challenge to the other dental societies throughout the state to do the same for hospitals in need, regardless of their location.
